Cincy to DC

So the journey begins...I woke up early to pack the last couple of things but could barely keep up with Marianne. She ran around throwing kids into the car and grabbing all our last minute stuff. Marianne is an extreme packer which is evident by the amount of things she jammed into our 'chucrh' van...4 car seats, cooler full of snacks and juice boxes, a bed for Papa Jerry, and more luggage than you can count.
Here is the glorious church van ready to roll...

The odomoter at the start of the trip - notice that in the 4 days in Cincinnati, Marianne and Papa Jerry had already logged 426 miles (I cannot drive the vehicle due to the idiots at Budget being unable to process our USAA discount code that Marianne used to become an additional driver - idiots!)
On the road again...Papa Jerry drove leg one. The boys were snuggled in their car seats and I am in charge of cuing up videos for the girls - which I did faithfully - it made us wonder how anyone ever traveled before tvs in the car.

There is also a small contest going on between the two boys. Big Mama will be meeting us in Florida-via airplane-and thus will be able to take one of the boys home as an infant on her lap. Well, within hour one, Hayes had already won the competition. Extreme screaming for an hour sealed the deal. Have fun with him, Big Mama!
Salmon Coddle - our Elf on the Shelf - thankfully after flying to talk to Santa the night before he took up a post in the van.
Papa Jerry likes to plan and here is the play book for the trip. Big Mama printed out the iternary, laminated it, and put it in this nifty organized photo - which Papa Jerry then filled with manilla envelopes of expedia directions, hotel reservations, and NY Times clippings - there goes all the organization.
Papa Jerry found the driving to be exhausting - his head served perfectly as a brace for the tv/vcr combo. The girls were very thankful for his huge head!

Eden has also had her taste buds opened to McDonald's. Last time she was lucky enough to indulge was 13 months ago when Aunt Wee took her while in Boulder. She now asks for McNuggets constantly and made her disappointment felt throughout the van when we went this morning for breakfast and had to suck up a sausage egg McMuffin.

  1. I can't believe how much "stuff" you have crammed into that van. Can't wait to see the picture of the van at the end of the trip! It is getting some real wear and tear!
